In December, the Year 5 & 6 Sportshall Athletics team took part in their heat of this year’s Borough Sportshall Athletics competition at Barnhill Community High School, in an attempt to qualify for the final.
The twelve members of the team each took part in two track events and two field events, with all points going towards a final team total. Up against Cranford Park, Bourne, Highfield and Botwell, our athletes performed superbly in the relay events, finishing either first or second in each of the eight races. In the field events, there were further excellent performances across the six events: long jump, triple jump, vertical jump, ball throw, speed bounce and javelin.
At the end of the competition, the results were announced and Oak Farm had won! The team therefore progressed to the borough final.
Congratulations to our successful athletes: Tino, Shauna, Kimi, Oshi, Ruby, Livia, James, Stanley, Tristan, Lei, Rowan and Taylor.
Having qualified for the Borough Sportshall Athletics Final, the Oak Farm team competed superbly in a very high-quality competition at the Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex. The team, consisting of pupils from Years 5 and 6, performed admirably in the relay events and produced some excellent performances in the field events. When the final scores were announced, Oak Farm had finished in a very creditable 4th place, agonisingly missing out on the bronze medals by just two points! With 25 schools having competed this year, 4th place overall was a fantastic achievement. Well done to the whole team:
Shauna, Tino, Kimi, Livia, Oceanna, Mya, Stanley, Tristan, Lei, Taylor, Ethan and Olaf.
